Jimmy Carter, born on October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia, served as the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981. A former naval officer, he was elected as Georgia's governor before rising to national prominence. Carter’s presidency focused on human rights, environmental issues, and peace efforts. His most notable achievements include brokering the Camp David Accords, which led to a peace treaty between Israel and Egypt, and championing energy conservation and alternative energy sources. After his presidency, Carter remained active in humanitarian efforts, founding the Carter Center and working on global health, democracy, and conflict resolution. In 2002, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
