Kenneth Collins is best known for his distinguished career as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and his role in flying one of the most iconic aircraft in aviation history—the SR-71 Blackbird. A highly skilled aviator, Collins flew missions at the height of the Cold War, gathering crucial intelligence at unprecedented speeds and altitudes in the Mach 3 reconnaissance aircraft. His contributions to national security and aviation earned him numerous awards, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Legion of Merit. Collins was also a test pilot for the CIA’s A-12 Oxcart program, the predecessor to the SR-71, playing a critical role in advancing the capabilities of high-speed reconnaissance.
