This original Chicago Cubs check is dated December 14, 1918 and was written to John O. Seys. The check is hand-signed by (3) William Veeck Sr. (D. 1933) and (Unknown signer). The check is also signed on the back by John O. Seys (D. 1938).

In 1926, he was promoted to second vice president, reflecting his growing influence within the franchise.
