Brigadier General David Lee ""Tex"" Hill was one of the most distinguished fighter aces of World War II, known for his exemplary service with the American Volunteer Group (AVG), better known as the ""Flying Tigers."" Born in Kwangju, Korea, to American missionary parents, Hill grew up in Texas, which earned him his iconic nickname ""Tex.""
Hill began his military career in the U.S. Navy before transitioning to the AVG in 1941. Under the command of Claire Chennault, the Flying Tigers became legendary for their success against Japanese forces in China. Flying the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, Tex Hill achieved 12 confirmed aerial victories, contributing significantly to the unit's overall success.
After the disbandment of the AVG, Hill continued his combat career with the U.S. Army Air Forces, serving with distinction in the China-Burma-India Theater. He eventually rose to the rank of brigadier general in the Texas Air National Guard, where he continued his service post-war. For his extraordinary contributions, Hill received numerous awards, including the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Tex Hill's legacy as one of America's most celebrated fighter pilots remains a significant chapter in the history of WWII aviation. His authentic signed cut signature is a rare and valuable collector’s item, offering a direct connection to a pivotal figure in military aviation history."
