How I Won the War is a black comedy film directed and produced by Richard Lester, released in 1967, based on a novel of the same name by Patrick Ryan. This film features former Beatle John Lennon (in his only non-musical role) and Roy Kinnear as ill-fated enlisted men under the inept command of the Lieutenant who leads his troops to a series of misadventures in North Africa and Europe.
