When this OAL (Johnson) baseball was signed, the Yankees were the toast of baseball. Given that Lou Gehrig and Tony Lazzeri signed this toned ball and because Ban Johnson is listed as the American League president, it had to have been signed in either 1926 or '27 since Ernest Barnard assumed the role of AL top man in July of '27. Lazzeri and Gehrig's autographs are sandwiched between the Johnson stamping. The sweet spot is occupied with a secretarial Babe Ruth signature. The Bambino must have been at a local diner or looking for companionship when the ball was endorsed. The Lazzeri and Gehrig signatures rate 4/10 to 5/10 in strength. Some loss of horsehide is visible throughout, although the two Hall of Fame signatures are legible. The autograph includes a James Spence Authentication (JSA) Auction House LOA for authenticity purposes.
