1924 Notre Dame "Four Horsemen" frame measures approximately 16.5" x 17" in size and has been hand signed in black and blue ink pen by Don Miller, Elmer Layden, Jim Crowley and Harry Stuhldreher.

The University of Notre Dame’s iconic “Four Horsemen” are the subjects of this timeless photograph. Compared literally in biblical proportions to the “Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse,” Notre Dame’s 1924 backfield earned its niche as perhaps the most prolific in gridiron history. Following the Fighting Irish’s upset of Army at the Polo Grounds, famed scribe Grantland Rice described the backfield principals as “Death, Destruction, Pestilence and Famine.” Upon their anticipated return to South Bend, the foursome was teamed with horses from a local stable for an ideal photo opportunity, and the legend lives on. Appealing in its own right, that image is autographed by all four in this display! Framed to 17-1/2 x 16”, this photograph is signed by (from left to right): Don Miller (d.1979; inscribed “Best Wishes”); Elmer Layden (d.1973; inscribed “Warm Regards”); Jim Crowley (d.1986; inscribed “Good Luck”); and Harry Stuhldreher (d.1965; inscribed “Best Regards”).

The lot / autograph(s) includes an official PSA/DNA hologram and matching LOA for authenticity purposes.
