Letter measures 5" x 8" in size and is hand-written and signed in black ink pen by Alexander Cartwright (D 1892).

Alexander Cartwright is the founder of modern baseball and the Knickerbocker Baseball Club in New York, elected to the baseball HOF in 1938. Cartwright was chairman of the committee that drew up the code of rules for baseball in 1845, including provision for tagging a runner out instead of hitting him with a thrown baseball.

The autograph includes an official James Spence Authentication (JSA) hologram and matching LOA for authenticity purposes.
