Doty went on to study at Los Angeles City College where he received his Associates Degree in Fine Art. Neal then completed his education at California State University at Northridge and earned his BA Degree in Fine Art. A Vietnam vet, Doty attended USC Medical School as well, working for several years as a Paramedic.
