Carmen Basilio Signed Original 1957 AP Wire Photo (JSA COA)

Photo measures approximately 7 1/8" x 9" in size and is hand-signed in blue felt tip pen by Carmen Basilio (D 2012).

The photo is an original wire photo from the Associated Press. The AP description is still attached to the back of the photo as shown. Dated 11/6/57.

Carmen Basilio was the world champion in both the Welterweight and Middleweight divisions, he is also famous for defeating the great Sugar Ray Robinson to take the Middleweight title. An iron chinned pressure fighter, Carmen was not known as a power puncher, but was an effective combination puncher and had great stamina, so he wore many of his opponents down as the fight went on with vicious attacks to the head and body.

The autograph includes an official James Spence Authentication (JSA) hologram and matching COA for authenticity purposes.
