Stan Musial Signed ONL Baseball with Original Art by Amadee Wohlschlaeger 1/1 (Beckett)

Rawlings Official National League baseball has been hand-signed by Stan Musial (D. 2013, St. Louis Cardinals, HOF). The other panels of the baseball feature hand-drawn and signed artwork from St. Louis Post-Dispatch cartoonist, Amadee Wohlschlaeger (D. 2014). Please note the minor discoloration around the signature.

About Stan Musial:

Stan Musial’s nickname tells you all you’ll need to know about his baseball career: He’s the man. A first-ballot inductee to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1969, Musial spent his career - debut to retirement - with the St. Louis Cardinals. That career includes three world series victories, an NL record breaking 3,630 hits and a legacy that lives on the hearts of Cardinals fans everywhere. Musial shares the world record for most All-Star games played with Hank Aaron and Willie Mays and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2011. Musial passed away in 2013 and is still widely considered to be one of the greatest hitters in baseball history.

About the artist:

A 14-year-old Amadee Wohlschlaeger got his first job as a copy boy at the St. Louis Post Dispatch at the height of the roaring ‘20s. After moving up to the art department in 1929, he became the fourth artist to draw the paper’s “Weatherbird” single-panel comic strip still found on the front page of the newspaper today. The cartoonist’s iconic Americana style comes from a newsman lineage dating as far back as the 1890s, as colleague Dan Martin explains, “He was using a technique largely forgotten today. It was Ebony graphite and pencil on something called social board.” The artist’s work can be recognized on numerous Sporting News magazine covers and over 30 years of University of Missouri football programs.
