About David Denenberg:

David Denenberg spent one summer in summer camp, where as he tells it “All we had to listen to was Carol King’s “Tapestry” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run”. Once I heard that album, I knew I had to go see him live. My first Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert was in 1976 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia. Once I saw him, I was hooked for life. Seeing well over 100 Bruce Springsteen concerts, the Spectrum shows in Philadelphia remain his favorites. David proudly states, I have all my ticket stubs to all these Bruce shows that I have seen for over more than 35 years.

David has photographed his journey with Bruce all on a Nikon FM camera using 210 Zoom lens. He still to this day does not use a digital camera. He says digital is too instantaneous. There is a real joy waiting to see your prints, one by one. The joy in film is to see if you captured something special. The wait for the results is the joy in taking the photographs.

“The Denenberg Collection” represents the first Fine Art Portfolio created from master negatives …from a FANS PERSPECTIVE. David did not have any press passes, or special section seating, or back stage access. In fact, many of his photos were taken in the days of “NO CAMERA’s /NO RECORDING DEVICES” allowed in the building. He states he used to smuggle his camera in his pants, while his girlfriend /wife Joan used to smuggle in his lens. His father recalled he would return from some concerts black and blue from security guards trying to get his film!

David reflects on a over 35 year journey of taking photos of his Bruce concerts that still goes on today. He is early anticipating the 2012 Bruce Tour, still as a fan. When asked about some of his favorite moments, David recalls a 1979 Capital Center Show where he sat in the front row, next to Bruce Springsteen’s housekeeper Obie. Obie had the first row center seat, and David was next to her. David remembers, Bruce threw him his harmonica, to which David still has to this day. He says he also has the toss on tape! David goes on to say he once camped out and cut school for one week while in college(something his parents knew nothing about) to get front row seats for the Capital Center  Show in Largo, Maryland. David goes on to say he got so entranced by the magic of a Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band live shows, he went  back packing in Europe, and set up his itinerary around the Bruce Springsteen “Born in the USA” World Tour. He caught about 15 shows that summer in Europe! David ends his enthusiastic recollections recalling that his most cherished Bruce Springsteen live moments are for the Asbury Park Christmas Shows. He says these shows have less than 1,000 people in attendance, there is always a Christmas Tree and Menorah on Stage, and these shows are always magic, as you never know what to expect. He once even got into a rehearsal show for one these shows.

What makes “The Denenberg Collection” so incredible is that they were never taken for any commercial use. They are a result of a 35 year odyssey from a devoted fan. They were taken to document his journey with Bruce. At the urging of his oldest daughter, he decided to see if something could be done to let the world see what he has witnessed firsthand.
