Salvador Dali (1904 - 1989) is a Spanish 20th century painter, illustrator, writer and filmmaker. His influence extends to almost every field of the arts and is still felt today.

Salvador Dali had the ability to paint in any genre, he is best known as the "Master of Surrealism" because of the way his work explored the unconscious and sleeping mind. He visually challenged and questioned proportion and scale in human and animal forms creating a fantastic, imaginary landscape heavy with symbolic images.

Surrealism's influence extended beyond fine art and included film, literature and philosophy and music. Dali explored all of these mediums, earning him the moniker, "Master of Surrealism".

Dali was a consummate print-maker, creating over fifteen hundred prints in his lifetime. Dali's approach to printmaking as a medium and not a means for mass production expanded the techniques of the medium itself.
