The 1979 Cotton Bowl Classic, popularly called the Chicken Soup Game, was played between the Notre Dame and the University of Houston. The game took place on an unusually cold day in Dallas, Texas, played the day after Dallas' worst ice storm in 30 years.
The final play was a touchdown pass from Joe Montana to receiver Kris Haines as the clock reached zero. Notre Dame won the game 35–34.
