Franklin Delano Roosevelt, (January 30th, 1882-April 12th, 1945) served in numerous offices, including Assistant Secretary of the Navy during World War 1, Governor of New York, and as the only President to be elected 4 times, dying in office during his 4th term.

Elected first in 1932, he led the United States through the Depression and used the Federal Government to provide jobs through the New Deal. During his third term, World War 2 began with the bombing of Pearl Harbor. At his speech to Congress, during which he invoked the famous line, “A day that will live in infamy.” war was declared. Roosevelt reassured and informed citizens with his “Fireside Chats” where lines like the famous “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” were stated. His place in history is assured and many rate him as the 3rd best President, behind only George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
