The last time the Edmonton Oilers were in the Stanley Cup Playoffs was 2006. Connor McDavid joined the team in 2014 after being selected with the No. 1 overall draft pick. In 2016, McDavid was named captain of the Oilers, making him the youngest captain in NHL history. The Oilers returned to the playoffs in 2017 with McDavid leading the way. McDavid also won the Art Ross Trophy, awarded to the player with the most points throughout the regular season.
