William Howard Taft (1857-1930) was the 27th President of the United States (1909-1913) and later the 10th Chief Justice of the United States (1921-1930), making him the only person to have held both offices. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Taft was a lawyer, judge, and governor of the Philippines before becoming President. His presidency focused on trust-busting and judicial reforms but was marked by tensions within the Republican Party, leading to a split and his defeat in the 1912 election. As Chief Justice, he is remembered for modernizing the federal judiciary and advocating for the construction of the Supreme Court building.

The autograph(s) includes an official James Spence Authentication (JSA) hologram and matching LOA for authenticity purposes.
