Cavern Club application form and 8" x 10" photo have been hand-signed and inscribed by Pete Best (Beatles Drummer).

Pete Best (born Randolph Peter Best on November 24, 1941, in Madras, British India) is a British musician best known as the original drummer for The Beatles. Best played with the band from 1960 to 1962, during their early years when they were honing their sound in Liverpool and Hamburg.

Pete Best joined The Beatles in August 1960, just before the band's first trip to Hamburg, Germany, where they played long sets in clubs, developing their musical style and stage presence. Best's drumming was a key part of the band's sound during this formative period. However, in 1962, just before The Beatles recorded their first single, "Love Me Do," Best was abruptly dismissed from the band and replaced by Ringo Starr.

The reasons for Best's departure have been the subject of much speculation. Some accounts suggest that it was due to his drumming style, while others point to personal differences or management decisions. After leaving The Beatles, Best experienced the challenges of seeing his former bandmates rise to unprecedented fame and success.

Although Best's time with The Beatles was brief, he continued to perform as a musician and eventually formed his own band, The Pete Best Band. In later years, he embraced his place in Beatles history, participating in interviews, documentaries, and Beatles-related events.

Despite the abrupt end to his time with The Beatles, Pete Best remains a significant figure in the band's early history, symbolizing what might have been and the unpredictable nature of fame and success in the music industry.
