Photo measures 8" x 10" in size and has been hand-signed and inscribed in blue ink pen by Jimmy Doolittle (D. 1993). Please note, the signature has been personalized "To John Blatt".

James Harold "Jimmy" Doolittle was an American aviation pioneer. During WWII, Jimmy Doolittle lead the air raid on the Japanese main islands following the events of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Doolittle was awarded the Medal of Honor following the raid and was eventually promoted lieutenant general and commanded both the Twelfth Air Force as well as the Fifteenth Air Force.

A portion of the sale of this auction will be donated to the General James. H Doolittle Scholarship Fund. The General James H. Doolittle Scholarship Fund was founded to assist college students by awarding one scholarship annually in the maximum amount of $5,000 to a deserving student who is pursuing a baccalaureate or advanced degree in aeronautical engineering or an aerospace science. Students are selected based on their scholastic achievement, school and community participation, demonstrated leadership potential and financial need.
