Apollo 13 Custom Framed On-Flight Silver Coin Display | Coin Carried on Flight of Apollo 13 (Franklin Mint)

Custom frame measures 15" x 22" in size and features an actual piece of silver that was actually carried on the flight of Apollo 13 in 1970! The minting of the set was specifically for the astronauts of the mission as well as the supporters of the space program!

The Apollo 13 mission, launched on April 11, 1970, was intended to be the third manned moon landing but became famous as a "successful failure" due to an in-flight emergency. Just two days into the mission, an oxygen tank exploded, crippling the spacecraft and forcing the crew—James Lovell, Jack Swigert, and Fred Haise—to abort the moon landing. Despite the dire situation, NASA's ground control team worked tirelessly with the astronauts to devise innovative solutions, using the Lunar Module as a "lifeboat" to conserve resources. After four harrowing days, Apollo 13 safely returned to Earth on April 17, 1970. The mission showcased the remarkable ingenuity, teamwork, and resilience of NASA and the astronauts, turning a near-disaster into a testament to human perseverance and problem-solving under pressure.

The silver coin includes an official Franklin Mint LOA for authenticity purposes.
